The Confidence Power of a Great Outfit

A Personal Letter from Eve, CEO of Project Emerald

After an incredible weekend at the Tasmanian Fashion Festival, I was reminded of something we can all too easily forget — the power of a great outfit.

The right dress, jacket, or pair of shoes can lift your mood, boost your confidence, and remind you of who you are. Developing your own style — and using fashion as a way to express yourself — is such a creative opportunity that many of us have let slip.

This week I’ve been travelling for work, with plenty of early mornings and airport time to think. And honestly? I was gobsmacked to see how many people were travelling in their pyjamas and Ugg boots. These weren’t kids — these were grown adults! Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for comfort and I love my activewear as much as anyone… but flannelette PJs at an airport? That’s crossing the line.

We have the power to show up in the world however we choose — and fashion is one of the simplest, most joyful tools we have to do that.

When we buy secondhand, we’re not only helping the planet — we’re also giving ourselves the freedom to explore our personal style without spending a fortune. It’s a chance to experiment, to find what makes you feel like you, and to make your money go further while investing in better-quality garments.

So this week, I challenge you to rediscover your style. If it’s been a while, start small. Swap out your PJs for something that makes you stand a little taller, smile a little wider, and feel a little more like the best version of yourself.

And if you’d love a little help discovering which colours make you shine, we can highly recommend Jackson Bankovic — “The Colour Guy” who joined us at the Tasmanian Fashion Festival. Jackson offers personalised colour consultations to help you find the shades that make your confidence glow.
